Hey boys and girls,
Just wanted to let you know that I'll be performing TWO SHOWS tomorrow night with the lovely Tammy Pescatelli (of Last Comic Standing Fame) at the Bananas in Poughkeepsie, NY. If you're in the area, please stop on by... (I'm there all weekend, but Ms. Pescatelli is only there Friday).
Best,
--jayblack
(PS -- the screenplay has FINALLY landed. Brian is going to do a final polish this weekend and then, next week, well, we'll see how the studios like it. If they like it enough to buy it, I'm considering changing my name to "Hollywood Jay Black").

Waterville Opera House
This is the beautiful Waterville Opera House. Forgive me if I went a little overboard posting pictures of it, but it was just such a joy to perform in. The accoustics were wonderful -- you could hear a stage whisper in the back row of the balcony without a mic! It was a wonderful time and a great show.
No more updates for at least three days -- I have to go into overdrive to finish the movie script!

TCNJ Show post-game
The Signal, which is The College of New Jersey's newspaper, is running an article about last week's performance. This is the picture they ran with it and at first I was a little upset (figuring that college kids would no doubt mock that bulbous head of mine), but then I realized that the picture was pretty much as good-looking as I'll ever be. It was then that I became _very_ upset :)
The write-up was great, though. If you're interested in reading it:
Check back later tonight for the first new podcast of the fall!
Best,

(PS The article does not mention our emcee for the night, Harris, who I thought _rocked_.)

Animator Wanted!!!!
Hey kids,
First off -- my set at Stand-Up went great. It was a younger crowd and they were ultra-warm.
Second off -- I'm looking for a flash animator who would want to work with me on creating some really screwed up flash cartoons. If you're interested, please drop me a line.
I'm off to bed!

New York City
Hey all -- this is just a reminder that I'll be appearing at Stand-Up NY tonight at 9:10. If anyone is in the area and wants to see the show, please stop on by!

Japanese Salaryman
I'm scanning all my old baby photos into my Powerbook and I came across what might be the very first instance of the Japanese Salaryman face. For those who know me, this will be hilarious. For those who don't, uh, please ignore this picture.
Best,

(PS Check out my Dad smoking away right next to little baby me. Ah, the seventies, what an innocent time!)
Harrisburg (and some changes)
I had a great time in Harrisburg -- my father came with me and we had a lot of quality time together.
Also, the crowds were fantastic (especially considering that it was Labor Day Weekend). Carolina, the room's manager, indicated that she'd like me back to headline next time. Hopefully this'll come to fruition early next year. Harrisburg is my favorite zone room not just because it's big, always packed, and beautiful, but also because it's close!
The site is slowly coming together. The text is slightly bigger (and easier on the eyes, I think), and the sidebar is a little more organized.

Calendar is up-to-date
The Calendar is now up to date! I've added links to the sites that actually have websites, so, if you'd like more information or to purchase a ticket, simply click on the event and then click to the venue's webpage. Follow the instructions from there!

Finally Here!
Well, if you're reading this, it means that you went to the old website and got redirected here to the new one. The website is still very much in flux and expect many changes to be made in the near future.
(I'm still working on how to get the redirect to work smoothly -- until then we'll have that stupid opening link. The new podcasts should be out within the week and you'll be able to subscribe to them within itunes. My calendar is not up to date -- expect all the gigs to be in there shortly -- and the guestbook is going to reboot. Actually, I'm not that upset about that as the old guestbook contained some pretty nasty stuff in it. Also, expect my merchandise to be onsale shortly -- jayblack t-shirts and shotglasses will be up here shortly.)
On the merchandise front, there's going to be some cheesy give-aways that will be produced specifically for my NACA appearance this November, and any left-overs I'll have available on the site as well. (Simply because there might be a collector out there who wouldn't feel right unless he had the t-shirt, the shotglass AND that special nick-nack giveaway :) )
All right, thanks for visiting.
best,
--jayblack
(PS, if you're here, please respond to this post: what do you think of the new blog-type format for the website? Better than that old one or not? Is it a cheesy way to make the site look better -- that is, should I invest some heavy dollars on a designed site? Or is this fine for my purposes? Please let me know what you think!)

TCNJ
Thanks to the good people at my alma mater, The College of New Jersey, for rocking the house tonight. 660 kids filling up the beautiful theater at Kendall Hall. It was a pleasure!
This is a short update while I try to get the new site (which is really just kind of a blog) up and running. You may have noticed that that horrible picture of me from the old headshot is gone (but not forgotten) and a cutesy baby picture of me is up instead. I'm getting new headshots next week and I'm using my baby-jay self to hold me over until then.
There's a whole rash of updates coming up -- including what's going on with the screenplay in development, my new college agent (whom I'll be linking to shortly), the Improv shows out in California, the TV pilot pitches we'll be doing in LA, the sketch show running in NY, the XM radio spot, the MSN Media spot, and a whole bunch of other really neat news articles.
I realize that this site will have a lot of self-promotional stuff up on it, but I wan't you to understand that the self-loathing is still there as strong as ever. That's why I do what I do :)

Alright folks, over the next few days, this will be the new homebase for the "Jay Black Comedy" experience. Hopefully you'll stick with me as I try to make this sucker work!
